Why should OU bring Capel back next year?

Is it because its too costly to get rid of him? Capel has said OU's best player is sitting out this year but it is going to take more than him and Goff. Pledger, Blair, and Clark should improve over the rest of this year but OU lacks talent to compete with the top teams in the big 12. I am just trying to figure out why Capel should be given another year with what the roster looks like next season.

This has been discussed a lot. I don't think he should be back but I think he will be back. The fact Jeff is a very nice guy, well spoken and a sharp person will help him get as much latitude as possible to right the ship. I don't think he can right the ship but he will be given a fair opportunity.

Boren is a very loyal person and he really likes Jeff and his wife.

I'm just really torn because I really like the guy and under different conditions I think he would have done well - but IMO this is too much for him.

btw I don't consider this a huge slam on JC - there are MANY very good coaches who I don't believe are cut out to reform this program

Unless JC wins 8 conference games this year he should shown the door at the end of the season.

Back to back ofers? Has that been done before at any level? I hope Tech turns out to be as bad as everybody on this board thinks they are?

If Jeff stays another year he will be a lame duck and recruiting will be set back even further. I just don't see us winning enough games next year to make the dance and that should be the minimum expectation.

The league will be harder when we add another game with Mizzou, Ku, Ksu and Istate. Those old automatic wins vs CU and NU wont be around. Not that either will be automatics this year.

You guys just set standards that are unrealistic. I'm glad none of you guys run the OU program, we would be hiring a new coach every other year.

Capel will be back and I can't wait til all you guys jump back on the Capel bandwagon. Next year is going to be a really good year. I knew this year wasn't going to be good but I know that next year will have us back to where we were.

Fire Stoops because he lost some games and hasn't won a National Title in years and he has put on some weight not keeping in shape like he should, we don't want a Mark Mangino on the sidelines again.

Fire Joe C because he has brought most of them here and he is losing his hair.

Fire Boren because of who he is.

Fire Sunny because of the mustache and if they do win the jump in a pile don't they know some one could get hurt.

And the rest of OU coaches in other sports get rid of them.

They all suck they don't win year in year out and they have lost games before and that is not acceptable at OU so....FIRE THEM ALL!!!!!

I hope you are right, I truly do. Saturday was hard to watch. I still like Capel and I think hes getting the most out of the guys he has now. But, we need help quick, I hope Osby is the answer.

Yeah, because there are no realistic reasons whatsoever why any sane human would even think of firing Capel.
