Add one former OU player to the current 2015-2016 roster and have that player as if he was in his prime who would it be and why ? I feel like we have almost everything we need to make a run at a Final Four but a deadeye 3 pt shooter so I'd say Steven Pledger or Tim Heskett

It seems like the obvious answer is Blake Griffin or Wayman Tisdale. An elite scoring big man makes this team a champion.

If we are taking all time greats off the table, I would probably go with Aaron McGhee.

The objectively correct answer is Blake or Wayman.

Getting slightly less greedy, Quannas White would be a pretty nice upgrade at the point.

Wayman, even if he didn't fill an existing need. Always Wayman.

But either Blake or Ace would be great. Jeff Webster for inside scoring. Najara's toughness and tenacity would be a nice addition, too.

blake wayman or Alvin adams ...

but how about mookie ... great lead guard .. and also an AA

While I'm tempted to say Alvan Adams, Wayman Tisdale, Blake Griffin, or Lester Lane, the one player that fits what I think this team needs is Clifford Ray.

To me it's Wayman by a wide margin. The guy averaged 25.6 ppg, 10.1 rpg, and 2 blocks per game for his career. Plus, his post scoring would be huge for this team.

The question gets harder if you exclude Wayman. Blake seems like the pretty obvious next choice, but I could see an argument for others. Jeff Webster would definitely be a good choice (wing/post scoring). You couldn't go wrong with Stacey King. I'm not sure where he'd fit in the guard rotation, but my "oddball" pick would be Corey Brewer. I think he'd excel in Lon's offense.

wait, we seriously started a thread about adding an ex-sooner to the team and the first two names were Pledger and Heskett?! lol goodness come on catoosa, you're better than that :D

Wayman. He would be one of the best players you could add to any college team, any time, no matter what that team needed most. Great skill. Great athleticism. Great teammate. Better person. On top of everything else, Wayman helped make his college teammates better. There should be a statue of Wayman at the main entrance to the LNC.

My 2nd choice of a former player to add the the 2015-16 roster would be Tim McCalister. While not a point guard, he ranks 2nd to Terry Evans on the OU career assists list. He is third on the career steals list. He is third on the career scoring list, even though the 3-point shot was not implemented until his senior season in 1986-87. He was also a good rebounder for a guard, and got to the foul line, ranking 7th all-time for free throws attempted and FTs made by an OU player. Adding Tim McCalister would upgrade the 2015-16 team, as he was a better all-around college basketball player than any of the guards on the current roster.

I thought the exact same thing. If Catoosa was looking for a shooting guard, the first name should be Hollis or Brent Price.

I would change this to a Sooner who did not play in the NBA and be that one player we need on next year's team. Since we need someone to fill the void of Tashawn Thomas and we're not sure whether we'll get enough points from Lattin or Mangyang, I'm going with the 2002 version of Aaron McGhee.

If we go with no nba players I'd say quannas. Nolan Johnson & McGee are next, I believe we have solid shooting with Hield & cousins.

I'll avoid the obvious and those mentioned. Give me Ontjes at the point, Erdmann on the wing, or Selvy as the first post of the bench. Loved Ontjes shooting and leadership in his 2 years here. Erdmann is the model of what CLK is looking for in a wing guard offensively. I love having versatile bigs on the 2nd unit who can come in and create match up problems and Selvy fits that to a T.

Would love N Johnson on this squad whether as a starter or off the bench. Classic Sampson role player/tough guy.

Skipping the obvious answers of Wayman and Blake, I would go with:

Terrell Everett- His slashing and play-making ability would be huge for next years team
Eduardo Najera- Warrior. Could score a bunch of points, grab a ton of rebounds. Imagine Cousins, Hield, Spangler, and Najera out there. Unstoppable.

Another post would be my first pick. Wayman and Blake are too obvious. Not counting those two, I'd add:

1) Stacey King
2) Jeff Webster
3) Harvey Grant

An old guy, Don Sidle, would be a nice addition. He was a 2-time first team AA. 6'8" and silky smooth.

Another name as you're mentioning Ontjes and White at PG is Austin Johnson. He was a smart player and his long arms let him play good defense.
