USA Today: Is ESPN the main force behind realignment in college sports?

At one time, I wouldn't have thought a company like ESPN would try to manipulate the conferences for their own benefit. In my opinion, that would be unethical. But this is the same company that saw nothing wroing with Craig James role in the Mike Leach/TT affair and allowed James to broadcast the TT bowl game after Leach was fired. This is the same company that openly campaigns for one Heisman Candidate over others. Ethics and objectivity are foreign concepts to them. It doesn't matter if it's ethical or honest, as long as it makes them money. So I have no problem imagining that they might try to manipulate conference realignment for their own benefit.

I highlighted the key sentence in your spot on observation. What is that old saying about money?

What is cracking me up is that ESPN talking heads are bashing realignment like they have had nothing to do with it and further are stating that college presidents and administrators should be ashamed of themselves. Really?

They will try to deflect criticism to anyone else that will stick!
