He used to be my arch message board rival, but i am seeing he actually knows a thing or two about basketball...

And i love how he is not afraid to post an opinion...

If we've learned anything about Boca, it's that his basketball knowledge is...um... suspect at best.

There are lots of knowledgeable b-ball fans here... ABD, BigTime, Cheno, playmaker, DFWHoopsFan, and some others come to mind.

Boca is certainly not among them. This thread is exhibit A.

Just a sample of how intellegent boca is after last years UTEP loss.

Blame Sampson

Any lack of experience and depth falls squarely on Sampson. He cheated and lied and put this program on probation then fled the scene. Tony Crocker is all that remained from the Sampson probation carnage.

People blaming Capel or Willie Warren don't have a clue.

Just cause in his opinion OSU is not good? Or that he likes Capel more?

If you werent an OSU fan it might look a little harsh, but i doubt you would take it so personal...

I dont agree that OSU sucks, but that's my opinion...just because your opinion of them differs doesnt make him lack knowledge...you guys crack me up cause you allow him to toy with you (only because i once was in the same position)...

Hey bocca did you take into account the fact that Ford is a movie star? That must count for somthing when deciding who the better coach is.

Or maybe we should take a poll on who has the hotter wife. That should be the deciding factor.

I've never seen Ford's wife, but Capel's wife is a knockout.

Let me set this straight...I don't hate Capel. I've never said I hated him. I like Capel as a person, he's a nice guy and is a good representative of the OU basketball program and athletic department. However, as I've stated numerous times, he's just not a good enough coach to be leading our basketball program. He should have never been offered the job because he is in way over his head. I think he could be a great assistant coach at a big time program, but at this point in his career he's just not up to snuff for a top 20 program which is what he inherited.

I think the results on the court backup my statements.

One more thing...my wife is hot, too. :woot

Ford has improved the basketball program from the position he inherited it at every stop. EKU was an absolutely horrible program that he got to the NCAA tournament. UMASS had some awful seasons under Steve Lappas and Ford got them to the NIT final, and OSU was in the midst of their worst stretch in nearly 20 years. And has gotten them to to the tournament 2 years straight.

Meanwhile, VCU's fortune's improved once Anthony Grant took over and Capel from an outsider's perspective has torpedoed the OU program, one that was likely the 2nd best in the conference.

Can't disagree with your thoughts, and Ford>Capel certainly has a point (although I'd still take Capel).

But would you mind clarifying the "VCU's fortune's improved once Grant took over"? It seems to me you are implying that Capel shouldn't get much credit for that. IMO, Grant should partly thank Capel for leaving Grant the program in such good shape. I just think that if you are going to credit Ford for improving EKU and UMass, Capel deserves the same for VCU as well.
