OU @ Texas 1pm CST on ESPN

Kellen Sampson please!

This program needs some new (old?) blood.

Our team deserves every second of that chant. Unfortunately, we likely need to prepare ourselves for yet another ass-kicking from them on Wednesday. Texas is 20-11 (same record), but it's demoralizing that we can't even play them close.
We can. But we can apparently only do it for 30 minutes, not 40.

I think you could make the argument that Texas definitely underperformed this year. They have way more talent than 20-11.
Maybe so....but hell I would take a single-digit loss against them....at least that would be some noticeable progress.

Hard pass, just because Kelvin is a good coach does not mean his son is going to be a good coach too
I'll take that chance.

Since Kelvin left our program has ranged from God-awful to slightly above mediocre over the course of three different coaches.

Oweh 3-10. He shouldn't still be getting 10 shots a game. 3-10, 7pts & 4 fouls. What a terrible stat line 0 FT, 0 reb, 0 ast, 0 stl. At least he didn't have a TO.

Look, Moser, no Moser...

OU needs more NIL and better talent. That's just the truth.

I don't want Kellen as HC. I don't want OU to chase Kelvin's success, I simply want them to chase success in general. Chasing ghosts is kind of lame. As stated, if Vandy fires Stackhouse, and hires a coach with HCing experience (and they would), OU would be the only program in the SEC with a HC who has no prior HC experience (if Kellen is hired). That's kind of JV-esque.

Could Kellen succeed at OU? Sure, that possibility exists. The odds are against it though.

They had 3-4 bad seasons, but they were never god awful.
You don't think 11-20 is awful?

I'd argue 13-18 and 14-18 are too.

Louisville? Georgetown? WVU? Those teams aren't awful this year?

And an Elite 8 and Sweet 16.

If that’s slightly above mediocre, l hope we finish slightly above mediocre the next couple of years
I'd be curious to know how many coaches never make it to a Final 4, Elite 8, or Sweet 16. Doesn't seem mediocre to me.

And I'll say it again since you and everybody else want to ignore it.....

If OU can hire HC's in football that don't have any HC experience (and they have, save Schnelly, going back to before Wilkinson), they damn sure can do it in basketball. Just because YOU don't want them to, or you don't want them to do it with Kellen, doesn't mean our program is above it or shouldn't do it. That's absolutely insane to even suggest. After Capel? Sure, we needed somebody with some experience at that point in time. Kellen has been around the game A LONG TIME. He runs a lot of stuff at Houston, Kelvin wouldn't still be coaching if he didn't have assistants that could do that (Kelvin has said that).

That is a "ghost" I'd absolutely chase. I don't think the floor would be all that low. He could absolutely accomplish what Moser has the last three years. I'd bet cash money on that.

But no, we'll probably go hire another mediocre coach with a mediocre resume, and be sad when the results he produces are, well.....mediocre.

just don't like limping to the finish line again, injuries stink, having only 1 win vs a tourney team in the past month, been blown out on the road too many times now. Yes still can make the tourney and that's what matters most at the moment.
