Thanks to everyone dropping intel.
OULeopard, are you referring to the juco Khalid Thomas? I thought Hartman just visited him this week? I guess this means we are in a good place with the other prospect you mentioned or Thomas is heading elsewhere and let it be known. Either way, good to know now.
Wilfried Likayi out of Casper CC that Bigabd has mentioned looks outstanding in some of his latest video. Long athlete that's a transition nightmare. He can slash, finish and step outside. I like Thomas a lot, but Likayi isn't a slouch by any means. To me, he looks more comfortable around the basket than Thomas and has a nice offensive game that would fit our tempo. He might be a plan B guy but a good one.
JMO but I think Tyson Etienne is special and would be a take in a New York minute. The kid is an animal and I'm jumping on the hype train. I would be stoked if we some how got him to pair with Harmon. I really wanted a combo in this class and another ball handler, he's that and a lot more. They list him at 6'1" but he can get anywhere he wants on the court and make you pay for it. Please let some Sooner Magic happen here. You guys need to watch some of his clips and tell me what you think. I like the Chase Hunter kid out of Georgia (Clemson commit) and Kyky Tandy out of Kentucky as well but there's something about Tyson that flashes difference maker to me.
I watched some of C/PF Jalen Graham's film out of Arizona (visited last week) and he pleasantly surprised me. Needs some weight but so do a lot of the kids we are in on. Graham is a pretty good passing big man with a nice low post game. He might be a backup plan with some of the news coming out about other big guys but I can see what the coaches liked about him. I kinda went from, what are we doing to okay I can see some potential and a skill set that can translate here.
Throw in Victor Iwuakor, the 2 bigs Leopard brought up with 2020 Lampkin and our front court future looks to be one of our most talented on paper in recent memory.
We are getting at the point of process of elimination aren't we?
Front court prospects:
Victor Iwuakor (T-tech is trying hard)
2 Arizona Bella Vista prep school (assuming they're 2019 guys and not 2020)
Jalen Graham
Malik Hall
Jaden McDaniels (I know it's a crazy long shot but he's still responsive)
Wings:
Jalen Hill
Terry Armstrong
Sam Williamson
Jourdan Smith
Wilfried Likayi(juco)
Khalid Thomas(juco) out of the picture
Backcourt:
Tyson Etienne
Kyky Tandy
If you can't get excited about any of these possibilities to close out the class you might as will become a Duke, Kansas or Kentucky fan. Almost every guy listed above could go anywhere they like. I hope 5 or 6 decide to like OU the best.
I think it's safe to say the coaches have done a fantastic job evaluating a lot of kids early and are continuing to scour the country for kids that fit and want to be here. I think all their effort is about to pay off. Anyone on this board that has their finger on the pulse of how slimy college b-ball recruiting is today should feel a sense of relief knowing our crew is fighting the good fight. We will lose some, it's the nature of the business but if you stay the coarse the real will eventually recognize the real. If a couple of the puzzle pieces come together the picture of the 2019 class will start to take shape. I feel better today than at anytime the last few months. I don't want to count all the eggs yet but I can almost smell the moist, tender, fall off the bone crow meat being slow cooked. I'll eat some myself just to show the staff my appreciation. Bon appetite and Boomer
