On the weekly ESPN OU page's Sooner intel, they caught up with Jacob Hammond. I know I've been very curious to see how our big man is progressing at a basketball academy instead of home school bball in oklahoma. To avoid any copy/paste infringments, I'll summarize a bit about the story.
Jacob is loving Sunrise Christian, quoting his gain in strength, great coaching, and young assistants. He is averaging ~10-12 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks a game (nice to hear from a jr at a big bball school)
Quotes his improvement in quickness, has been playing some perimeter defense on 3's and 2's (probably some PnR stuff), and doing well in the lane.
Don't need to worry about his recruitment, he is 100% OU, and other teams aren't even trying much with him. Loves coach Kruger and has only been to 1 game this year but it was the home win v. KU. Constant contact with the staff.
All in all sounds like a good experience, glad to hear he is progressing, and hoping he can get even better as a senior and gives us a true big man for a few years.
