OU vs #1 Houston 7pm CST on ESPN2

If our shots are falling, maybe we have a chance. I don’t expect us to win. I expect Houston to control the game from start to finish and win in typical Sampson fashion.

What about all the first round losses to underdogs (like Fran’s manhantten team) which happened before that Arizona game? We lost to an underdog in Indiana in the final 4. Lost to syracuse the following year when we were the 1 seed. Lost to Wisconsin Milwaukee in the 1st round a few years later.

I love Kelvin and wish he never left ou. But he definitely had some extremely disappointing performances in the big dance.
False

OU was the better seed only in the loss to Manhattan. The other 3 first round losses, prior to the year we beat Arizona, OU was the lower seed.

Thanks for the correction. We lost to temple and Indiana in 7-10 matchups and Stanford in the 6-11.

Having said that my point still remains as we also lost to Indiana state (13) as a 4 seed and to Utah (6) when we were the 3rd seed. More years than not, we lost to a worse seed in the big dance.

Does anyone know the last time OU scored less than 40?
I tried to use chat gpt but it was giving incorrect information
2004 in the Drum in Austin. I was there! I believe we missed our first 19 three-point attempts. The Horns retired TJ Ford's number at halftime.

Indeed he did. I don't have stats for everybody everywhere, but Kelvin was pretty pedestrian against lower-seeded teams in the NCAAs. Kind of wild: Kelvin's last six Tourney teams were eliminated by a lower seed.

WINS:
2000 - Winthrop
2002 - Illinois-Chicago, Xavier, Arizona, Missouri
2003 - SC State, California, Butler
2005 - Niagra

LOSSES:
1995 - Manhattan
2000 - Purdue
2001 - Indiana State
2002 - Indiana
2003 - Syracuse
2005 - Utah
2006 - Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Kelvin took OU to 11 NCAA appearance out of 12 season coaching at OU. Right now we are hoping that we might make the tournament in Moser 3rd year. There were seasons when OU seemed to not make the NCAA Tournament, then his team surprised everyone by winning the Big 12 tournament to get in. This was coaching against the like of Eddie Sutton/Roy Williams.

Obviously I want OU to win … but I hope KS wins the nc..if we can’t
I agree. Kelvin was never going to win a title at OU and after watching this program for a lifetime, OU will never win a title. So, I wish all the best for Sampson, except this one game today.

After watching Damion James and Scottie Reynolds making deep runs in April, I'm not sure he couldn't have.

He worked REALLY hard to get that last recruiting class in. So hard, he had to leave them behind!

If a blue blood had not come calling he would not have left them behind.

Include me in the crowd that hopes Calvin loses today but wins the NC. I have always been a fan of Coach Simpson.

Just saw that the game is sold out! Going to be a great environment. Hopefully the team can match it.
