OU vs Coppin State Game Notes

Oklahoma 1-0 taken on Coppin State 1-1 tomorrow night at 7:00 Game will be televised by Soonersports Network in OKC KAUT 16/714 and if you lived outside of OKC it will be on FS Oklahoma and it will be streamed for free on ESPN3.Calling the game on TV is Bob Carpenter and Billy Tubbs.Toby Rowland and Mike Houck will be calling the game on the Radio.

With Blair and Newell playing better than expected (to me at least), our bench isn't as weak as I originally had thought it might be.

This is our strongest starting lineup and gives us the best chance to win. It will be nice having cal coming in a nd giving a spark off the bench. Let's hope Casey can keep improving too. He's struggled a bit so far.

Hehe. A friend and myself have a drinking game that has evolved over the years and it changes per season. So far we drink every time billy cant see a play, we take a shot when Toby calls Aaryn "Ellenberger", and we take a shot when Newell hits a 3, Neal makes a dunk, and Puma makes a block. The rest of the game is just beer shots in a shot glass based on some of our older rules for drinks. Calvin and Puma had us a little bent last game.

I must be alone, b/c I don't care much for Tubbs as a broadcaster. He comes across, and don't kill me for saying this, too much like Lou Holtz.

I love Tubbs, but I really don't enjoy listening to him call games.

I much prefer Toby and especially Bryan Brinkley to Carpenter.

*Disclaimer* I am not saying that Newel is as good as Manu Ginobili or James Harden *Disclaimer*

I would like to see Newel coming off the bench as an offensive spark and leader of the second unit in the same way that the Spurs use Ginobili and the Thunder use Harden. I think that it is more important to have Newel on the floor, when we take Fitz out, to make up for the lost offense. It could also keep him fresher, if you need him at the end of the game to make plays.
