And now they call the touch fouls on X
Come on, the officiating was fine.
And now they call the touch fouls on X
It’d be nice if all the people who complain that we “always” suck at defending the three could show some stats to back that up. I mean, it isn’t tough to find such things if it is actually true. Tonight has been horrific but let’s see some numbers indicating we are consistently bad in this area.
Again, terrible defense tonight, no question. X shot great but too many of their looks were basically uncontested.
True but it’s also true we are playing terrible defense. And now it’s getting away from us.

We have the ability to beat anyone in our conference. Yes, we need to clean a lot of things up first. I am probably more worried about falling asleep against those we should beat.

I'm with ya....we really haven't been that bad at defending the 3 over the last several seasons.....about middle of the road. However, it really seems to be glaring when we lose....like tonight.
to me...it starts before the ball even gets there. Look at how X def the perimeter against us....we had very few open looks...hell even very few clean catches. They were in our face all night.
We ran around trying to catch the guy with the ball..
Just my observation.
What people complain about is open looks from the outside. Do they keep stats for that?
Actually I think there are advanced stats that do just that.
They are much more athletic than we are on the perimeter....specifically, they have length we don't. This is in no way a criticism, but Harmon and Gibson are just small and don't have the length compared to guys like Scruggs, Odom, and Johnson. Length, to go along with good speed, really helps on defense.
I just looked it up in Kenpom (3 pt FG% defense):
2020 - 33.6% (#201 out of 353 teams)
2019 - 33.3% (#109 out of 353 teams)
2018 - 36.2% (#240 out of 351 teams)
2017 - 36.5% (#262 out of 351 teams)
2016 - 33.7% (#119 out of 351 teams)
2015 - 31.7% (#53 out of 351 teams)
2014 - 34.2% (#162 out of 351 teams)
wow...glad you're optimistic...and since we play everyone twice odds are we beat at least one of the top 4...

If manek or reeves struggle that shuts down our offense.
harmon is good but after that who do we have?
vic and kur are inside only...and vic is a garbage type of guy
Trey is a spot up shooter and a fr
Hill is a rebounder and that's it.
Granted X was on fire but our def pressure sucked period
